Chisinau, 1 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Premier League officials say that they do not intend to suspend the matches from the current season, despite the increase in the number of positive tests for coronavirus in players from the first English football league, BBC has reported.
"Premier League continues to have full confidence in its Covid-19 protocols, in order to allow the matches be played as scheduled, and these protocols continue to enjoy the government’s full support. Taking into account the health of the players and staff, Premier League fully backs the way the clubs enforce the protocols and rules,’’ a press release reads.
Sam Allardyce, the coach of the English football team West Bromwich Albion, said that an interruption of the Premier League would be preferred, after the largest number of positive tests had been recorded in the last round of COVID-19 analyses.
According to the quoted source, 18 tests were positive for coronavirus in Premier League in the last week.
