Chisinau, 6 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Defence Ministry of Romania today provided the Chisinau-based Military Clinical Hospital with about one ton of medicines and equipment, worth 31,000 euros in all, meant for combating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Attending the ceremony on delivery of the assistance was Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita. He said that the action was part of the commitments taken by Romania before Moldova’s citizens.

„In the context of the last year visit, the Romanian president informed that the National Defence Ministry would carry out the transfer to Moldova of a separate donation of medicines and equipment, meant to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. So, today, the equipment of sanitary protection, overalls, FFP2 masks, surgical masks and visors, as well as other sanitary goods was delivered to colleagues from Moldova,’’ Ionita said.

The ambassador also said that the today’s donation completed the last April actions of the National Defence Ministry, when it brought 10 isolettes produced in Romania to Chisinau.

On the last days of the 2020 year, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis paid a visit to Chisinau, during which he informed about a new package of assistance for Moldova. Thus, Romania will provide Moldova with 200,000 anti-COVID vaccine doses, as well as medicines and medical equipment. At the same time, on the next period, experts from Romania will come to Moldova, in order to make clear the vaccination strategy.
