Moldovan composer, singer turns 65

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - The leader of the Trigon band, composer and singer, Master in Art Anatol Stefanet turned 65 years today.  

Anatol Stefanet was born in the Grinauti village, north-western Rascani district, on 23 January 1956.  In 1972, he was admitted to the Balti-based Music College, which he graduated in 1978. In the same year, Stefanet came to Chisinau, where he was employed at the Lautarii (The Fiddlers) Folk Music Orchestra.   

In 1980-1984, he was violin player at the Orchestra of the JOC Ensemble of Folk Dances, where he worked till 1992. Also at that time, Stefanet set up the trigon band, with which he gave concerts all over the world, signing jazz music in folk style.     

Anatol Stefanet edited 12 musical albums; the first one, a folk music one, was recorded in France, titled Moldavie l’art deu bratch. The golden debut took place in1994, when the Belgian company SILEX launched a CD titled, The Moldavian in jazz, which brought Trigon a European name.  

The trigon band led by Anatol Stefanet made numerous tours in Austria, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, the United Kingdom, New Zeeland, Romania, Russia, Spain and other countries.   

As of 2001, he has been director of the Etno Jazz International Festival, annually held in Moldova.  

In 2010, Anatol Stefanet was awarded the honorific title, Master in Art. He is also holder of the Grand Prize of the French Academy; prize Man of the 2016 Year of the magazine VIP Magazin.
