Chisinau, 26 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Moldova Maia Sandu today had a meeting with Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Thomas Mayr-Harting.

According to the presidential press service, the discussion was focused on more up-to-date subjects concerning the domestic policy from Moldova, in particular, the developments in the Transnistrian file. ‘’I reiterated, once again, our determination to find exclusively peaceful ways for the rapprochement between the two banks and noted that, for us, the residents from the left bank of Dniester are citizens of Moldova, who must enjoy the same rights,’’ the head of state said.

The officials also reviewed the priority subjects on the current agenda of the settlement process: ensuring the fundamental human rights and freedoms on the left bank of Dniester, including the right to free movement to and from the Transnistrian region; maintaining a constant dynamic in the process of negotiations; monitoring the most urgent problems which can mark the daily life of the residents from both banks of Dniester, etc.

In the context, President Maia Sandu noted that, to give an impetus to the domestic processes, including the ones concerning the Transnistrian region, a government with full rights was needed and this would be possible only following the snap parliamentary elections.

Sweden presently holds the OSCE chairmanship-in-office.
