Moldovan president meets French official

Chisinau, 4 February /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu began a working visit to Paris on 3 February. First on the agenda was a meeting with Richard Ferrand, President of the National Assembly and members of Friendship Group France - Moldova of the National Assembly, the presidential press service has reported.

Maia Sandu reiterated Moldova's constant interest in expanding and diversifying Moldovan-French bilateral relations at all levels, advancing the negotiation of bilateral agreements and boosting economic cooperation. 

"I am confident the friendly relations between our countries will be marked by an upward dynamic. France is constantly supporting democratic and economic reforms in Moldova. We set out to build a state that would protect its citizens, provide them with opportunities for future, and make democracy and human rights real. At the same time, we want to be a credible partner abroad and can use the opportunities provided by the Eastern Partnership ", Sandu said.

The French partners have shown interest in the latest political developments in Moldova, the regional context and the country's immediate priorities. "Your commitment to fight corruption, human rights and commitment to European values are three closely issues, common to both the EU and France. Therefore, we will support you in this endeavor ", Richard Ferrand said.

The sides also approached a lot of topical issues of common interest on the regional and international agenda.

The last meeting at the level of the France-Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of the French Republic took place in Chisinau, on 21-28 September 2019.

On 3-4 February, Maia Sandu pays an official visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
