Moldovan writer passes away

Chisinau, 10 February /MOLDPRES/ - Prose writer, essayist and publicist Pavel Pelin died at the age of 72 years on the night of 9 to 10 February.     

The councilor of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Titus Stirbu, has made the announcement.  

Pavel Pelin was born in Satul Nou village, (presently Novosiolovka), Sarata district, Odessa region, Ukraine. He had unfinished education at the Philology Faculty of the Moldovan State University (1966-1970); Pelin got a degree at the literary criticism section of the M.Gorki Universal Literature Institute (1985). He worked at more newspapers from Chisinau and Chernivtsi, theatre inspector, teacher in the secondary education (Ukraine, Trans-Carpathian region), scientific employee, parliamentary adviser, presidential adviser.     

Pavel Pelin debuted in 1983. He was awarded the Prize of Moldova’s Writers’ Union (1998), prize of the Convorbiri literare magazine (1998, Iasi), as well as other literary prizes.
