Romania stays main destination of Moldovan goods

Chisinau, 17 February /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova exports and imports more goods from European Union countries than from the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

According to the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), the exports of goods meant for the EU countries in 2020 totaled 1,658.4 million dollars (by 6.9 per cent less against 2019), with a share of 66.7 per cent of the overall exports.  

The exports of goods meant for the CIS countries in 2020 stood at 377 million dollars (by 13.3 per cent less against 2019), which accounts for 15.2 per cent of all exports.

In 2020, the principal destination countries of Moldova’s exports were: Romania (28.4 per cent of exports), Germany (9.1 per cent, Russia (8.7 per cent), Italy (8.6 per cent), Turkey (6.9 per cent), Poland (4.4 per cent), Czech Republic (3.2 per cent), Ukraine (2.8 per cent), Belarus (2.7 per cent), Switzerland (2.5 per cent), Bulgaria (2.3 per cent), the Netherlands (2.2 per cent), United Kingdom (1.7 per cent), Spain (1.4 per cent), France (1.2 per cent), Hungary (1.1 per cent).

The imports of goods coming from European Union countries in 2020 amounted to 2,470.4 million dollars (by 12.7 per cent less than in 2019), with a share of 45.6 per cent out of all exports.

The imports of goods coming from the CIS countries last year were worth 1,317.6 million dollars (by 7 per cent less against 2019), which accounts for 24.3 per cent of all exports.
