Two groups of producers of Moldova to benefit from grants to facilitate access to sales markets

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) has signed for financing the last contracts with two groups of producers, who will benefit from grants worth 700,000 dollars in all. The financing comes following the last appeal announced within the grants programme, Facilitation of access to sales markets, implemented by the Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project (MAC-P)   

Both groups of producers are specialized in the apicultural sector. They asked for support to construct complexes for the collection, processing, packing and depositing of natural honey.

Sixty four groups of producers have been registered since the launch of the project, through MAC-P. Grant sources worth 10.9 million dollars were disbursed to 39 groups of agricultural producers, within the programme of investment grants meant for groups of producers.   

Within this project, the groups of producers, made up of at least five members from the horticultural sector (cultivation of fruits, nuts and grapes), the one of collection and processing of milk and honey, were able to benefit from a grant worth up to 350,000 dollars.   

MAC-P, financially backed by the World Bank, government of Sweden and the Global Environment Fund, was launched in 2012, in order to provide farmers with logistic and financial support, to strengthen the capacities of sustainable management of farmlands, processing and packing of agricultural products and facilitating the access to market. At the same time, the project provides for the modernization of the food safety management system. Last year, the Moldova Agricultural Competitiveness Project was extended till 30 June 2021.
