Fields of application, structure of National Strategy for Agricultural, Rural Development 2021-2030 set up

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/- The committee of the Twinning Project Additional Support for agriculture, rural development and food security in Moldova, at yesterday meeting considered the progress, updated the goals and set the actions to be taken in the next quarter. The agenda of the meeting included the approval of the action plan for the next six months and the quarterly report.

It was announced that the fields of application, structure and content of the National Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development (SNDAR) 2021-2030 have been finalized so far. In this context, the basic structure of the strategy development process was established.

According to Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ion Perju, to implement the highest standards in food security, develop competitive agriculture and prosperous rural areas in our country, a set of activities was initiated that will enhance the harmonization of national legislation with that of the European Union.

"During this period, progress has been made on the strategic environmental assessment, the new strategy and the development of a set of indicators for SNDAR 2030, as well as for sectoral programs. We have a continuous support from the EU offered by MADRM, including in the strategic planning process, for an active involvement in the development of capacities in the sector and for the support in the organization of the meetings ”, Ion Perju said.

In the next period, the parties agreed that the institutions involved in the development and implementation of state policies related to agriculture (MADRM, AIPA and ANSA) should benefit from the advice of international experts, who will make recommendations for the implementation of EU legislation on quality policy and standards of marketing for animal products (eggs and poultry). At the same time, the parties intend to review and update the procedure manuals for these products, as well as the organization of workshops, simulation exercises for product quality control inspection.

The twinning project launched on 1 September 2020 is funded by the European Union with a budget of two million euros. The project provides the necessary assistance to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture (AIPA) and the National Agency for Food Security (ANSA) to strengthen institutional capacities, aiming to meet commitments under the Association Agreement with the EU.
