Moldovan acting PM has videoconference with EU Commissioner for Trade

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The dynamic of the Moldova-European Union relations today was discussed at a meeting, in videoconference format, between acting Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi and Executive Vice President of the European Commission, European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis.    

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE), at the discussion, the officials reviewed subjects on the process and challenges dealing with the implementation of the Association Agreement, under the aspect of turning to account the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, as well as the developments of carrying out the actions related to the emergency macro-financial assistance on behalf of EU, called OMNIBUS.     

Taking into account the progress made in Moldova in carrying out the roadmap for getting the right of export of animal origin goods to the EU area, PM Aureliu Ciocoi welcomed the EU’s decision to make an audit in next April, meant to assess the health control in the sector and possibility to get the right of exporting fowl and eggs of the B category, expected by entrepreneurs from Moldova.    

Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi also approached Moldova’s interest in the Singe Euro Payments Area (SEPA), highlighting the benefits it will bring to the citizens and possibilities of development for small- and medium-sized enterprises.

The officials also exchanged opinions on prospects for ensuring a more consolidated cooperation of Moldova within the Eastern Partnership, along with Georgia and Ukraine. This approach was promoted, in order to help speed up the process of the European integration in the associated countries.  

In the end, the EU Commissioner for Trade urged the Moldovan authorities to continue implementing the needed reforms, which further represent a condition for the dialogue and the European Union’s willingness to provide Moldova with support.
