Moldovan, Lithuanian officials broach bilateral relations

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/- Deepening Moldovan-Lithuanian relations was discussed today in Chisinau at a meeting between acting Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis. The diplomat from Vilnius said that the country will donate a batch of anti-COVID vaccine for the Republic of Moldova.

At the end of the meeting, the two officials held a press conference.

"At the meeting we approached many issues, including bilateral cooperation and Moldova-EU cooperation. The pandemic situation in the region was also discussed. Our relations with Lithuania are historic and we want to ensure a permanent dynamic. We agreed on an ambitious bilateral agenda, the dialogue between Chisinau and Vilnius will be turned to good account through concrete actions ", said Ciocoi.

Gabrielius Landsbergis said that although times are not easy under pandemic, friendship should be. "Lithuania was one of the countries that signed the letter to the EU requesting aid to the Eastern Partnership countries under COVID-19 pandemic. We will work to ensure the vaccination of Moldovan citizens as soon as possible, "said Landsbergis.

The two officiaals said that today it was agreed that Moldova should benefit from a batch of anti-COVID vaccine that Lithuania will donate in the near future.

Landsbergis has planned meetings with President Maia Sandu and deputy speaker Vlad Bătrîncea.
