Medicine Agency of Moldova authorizes more anti-COVID vaccines on condition

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Medicines and Medical Devices Agency today informed that it had authorized on condition the vaccines included by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the list of use in emergencies: Pfizer/BioNTech and AstraZeneca, as well as the vaccine Gam-COVID-Vac, Vaccine vector combined for the prevention of the infection with coronavirus induced by SARS-CoV-2 (Sputnik V).    

According to a press release issued by the institution, a meeting of the Medicine Commission under the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency was held today. The participants in the event ruled to authorize, on condition, the vaccines used in the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), with the issuance of Certificates of Registration with a period of one year and by requesting the presentation of post-authorization studies on safety and post-authorization studies concerning the efficiency.   

The press release reads that the authorization, on condition, of the vaccines creates opportunity to initiate the process of residents’ immunization.  

Also today, the COVAX platform informed that 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines, produced in South Korea, would be brought to Moldova till 3 March. The Romanian government has recently ruled to urgently provide the first installment of 20,000 doses of anti-COVID vaccines, out of those 200,000 previously promised ones. On 25 February, Lithuania also said that it would donate a consignment of vaccine to Moldova.
