Chisinau, 3 March /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi chaired a cabinet meeting today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

In the beginning of the meeting, the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Tatiana Zatic, referred to the present epidemiological situation, noting that the indicator of infection had grown by 30 per cent in the last week. Given that the number of active cases has increased and the hospitals are overburdened, a record number of more than 11,000 people are treated at home.

„Starting from 2 March, the vaccination of the first-line physicians began. Over 700 physicians have been already immunized on the first day of the vaccination campaign. At the same time, on 4 March, a new consignment of vaccine, received on the COVAX platform, is to be brought to Moldova,’’ Tatiana Zatic also said.

The acting PM thanked the physicians for all their sacrifice and work carried out, as well as the foreign partners for the support provided to Moldova. ‘’We must pay maximal attention to the first-line physicians. They really deserve a monument for the work they do. I want to thank our partners, especially Romania, for the first doses of vaccine donated. We have institutions where all medical staff has been already immunized,’’ the official said.

Aureliu Ciocoi also said that decision-makers discussed possibility to allocate money from the state budget and buy vaccines directly from international pharmaceutical producers.

The participants in the today’s cabinet meeting approved a regulation on the way of requesting and providing the one-off allowance to the staff from the public medical and sanitary institutions, who died while fighting COVID-19.

The document sees that the size of the one-off allowance is 100,000 lei and that it can be provided either to the husband survivor of children at the age of 18 years, if they continue the education till the age of 23 years, or even to one of the parents, if there are no descendants from the first two categories.

Under the draft, the personnel employed at the public medical and sanitary institutions from the primary medical assistance, specialized ambulatory medical assistance, hospital medical assistance, pre-hospital emergency medical assistance, high-performance medical services, medical institutions/subdivisions subordinated to the Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry, National Administration of Penitentiaries and the Intelligence and Security Service, whose death occurred in the wake of infection while directly carrying out the medical work in the fight against COVID-19, fall under the act of the concerned normative document.

The allowance will be paid by the public medical and sanitary institution where the dead person worked. The expenses will be covered from government’s emergency funds. The regulation’s provisions will apply to the deaths occurred as of 17 March 2020.

The cabinet of ministers today voted a draft which provides for the approval of the age categories of the depositors of Banca de Economii (Savings Bank) for the payment of the sum indexed in 2021. Beneficiaries of the draft will be the depositors born on the period 1952-1957 for the payment of the sum indexed at the second stage in 2021. Besides, competent people will continue paying the sum indexed related to the first stage of depositors, born till 1991 inclusively, who failed to raise the indexation in the previous years for various reasons. The state budget law sees 70 million lei for compensating the losses for the money deposits.

In the end, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi called on the citizens to strictly observe the sanitary and epidemiological norms, wear masks and avoid agglomerations, so that the number of infections with SARS-COV-2 decreases in Moldova.
