Chisinau, 6 March /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed with the Romanian MP, former health minister of Romania Nelu Tataru, who held the concerned office during March-December 2020, the presidential press service has reported.

The official came from Bucharest to share Romania’s experience in the management of the pandemic crisis. At an initiative by President Maia Sandu, representatives of Moldovan competent institutions were invited: Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, National Public Health Agency, State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, as well as managers of the hospitals involved in the treatment of patients seriously sick with COVID-19.

The head of state thanked Nelu Tataru for openness to share Romania’s experience and willingness to make this useful visit to Chisinau in difficult times for both countries. ‘’We discussed major problems faced by the medical system in the process of treating the Covid-19 patients and of sanitary crisis management. The vaccine is the principal solution; yet, a better communication is necessary on behalf of the authorities, in order to persuade the people about its efficiency. At the same time, to cease the increase in the number of serious cases and avoid the collapse of the medical system, it is necessary to more seriously monitor the situation at the level of the primary medicine and to ensure a real and quick access of the patients positively tested to free of charge medicines,’’ Maia Sandu said.

Another important aspect of the discussion was focused on the providing, in the first 48 hours after the confirmation of the positive result, of the access to radiography and other specific investigation for the diagnosing, monitoring and evaluation of the patients tested with COVID-19.

„We agreed that the ministry’s team and the hospitals’ managers weekly discuss online with the team of Romania, in order to exchange information and experience. This would help quicker identify solutions to the problems which are presently common – solutions which mean more people treated and more lives saved,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
