Moldovan fine artist turned 65 today

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/- Fine artist Ion Morărescu, winner of several awards in Moldova and Romania, turned 65 today.

He was born on 12 March 1956, in Butuceni village, Orhei district. In 1971, he graduated from the School of Fine Arts for Children in Orhei, the class of Professor Constantin Matei, and in 1976 - the Republican School of Fine Arts Ilia Repin in Chisinau. In 1980-1985 he attended the Faculty of Graphics and Painting of the State Pedagogical University Ion Creanga, the class of Professor Alexandr Kuzmin.

Since 1989 he has been a senior lecturer at the Department of Painting of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design of UPS Ion Creanga in Chisinau.

His works are executed in various techniques. He practices oil painting, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, pencil painting. The sculpture works are made of recyclable materials, made of used metal. 


He has participated in several national and international exhibitions. Since 1991 he has been a full member of the Union of Fine Artists of the Republic of Moldova.
His works are also in private collections abroad: Finland, Italy, Canada, the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Great Britain, Romania, USA.

In 2004 he was awarded the Grand Prize at the Exhibition-Contest of Contemporary Fine Arts Saloons of Moldova, for the work The Last Chain, by the Ministry of Culture and Cults of Romania.

In 2006 he was awarded the Grand Prize from Romania at the Salons of Moldova.
