Moldovan deputy premier for reintegration has meeting with head of EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Olga Cebotari today had a meeting with the head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Slawomir Pichor, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.   

The agenda of the discussions included subjects on the dynamic of the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, up-to-date subjects, Chisinau’s position on the measures undertaken by Moldova’s authorities in the promotion of the country’s reintegration policies and ensuring the carrying out of the fundamental human rights in Moldova’s eastern districts.   

The deputy PM informed about the information campaign held by the border national authorities as to the residents from the region and which regard the notification about the rules necessary to be observed for the participation of vehicles in international road traffic, with the coverage of actions on optimizing the work of the points of registration of transports meant in the Tiraspol and Rabnita cities and enhancing the process of documentation with neutral model registration plates.   

The sides highlighted the role of EUBAM and the mandate given to the mission on elements concerning the Transnistrian dimension. Cebotari emphasized the Moldovan authorities’ interest in getting assistance and technical expertise, to back efforts of identifying viable solutions to topical problems on the agenda.  

The interlocutors also paid attention to aspects on the integrated management of the state border from the viewpoint of the organization of the joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control on the central(Transnistrian) segment of this border, as well as the import-export operations carried out by economic agents from the Transnistrian region, with setting forth the facilities presently provided by the national authorities, as well as of the measures taken, in order to bring the activity in the legal field of Moldova.

The EUBAM head reiterated the institution’s openness to provide any form of assistance which presents interest, including in the organization of trainings for developing the capacities in diverse topic-related spheres, with the involvement of specialists from both banks of Dniester.   

The officials expressed willingness to deepen the dialogue on different aspects of mutual interest, as well as to strengthen the interaction, in order to prompt options of sustainable settlement of the problems on Transnistrian-related subjects.
