National Bank of Moldova to attend International Financial Education Week

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/- The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) will organize several activities during the International Financial Education Week on 22-26 March. They are meant for pupils, students, general public, business environment etc.

"Citizens' interest in financial education is constantly growing and responds to the needs of increasing active involvement of the population of different ages and occupations in activities that contribute to financial inclusion. This event, promoted at national level by the National Bank for several years, was attended by authorities, institutions and associations with various activity profiles. The new reality we live with the entire global community reorients us towards an online approach to the event, but the interaction between participants will be active and offers everyone the opportunity to participate ", BNM governor Octavian Armașu said.

Next week a lot of actions will be carried out, such as - public information and awareness campaign through multimedia products - videos, video guides and podcasts. They include topics: safe use of payment card, how to start an online business, what to pay attention to when taking a loan, from savings to investments, why monetary policy decisions are made etc.

At the same time, the financial education platform - Moldova Banking Hub - will be launched for pupils, students and teachers who will have the opportunity to discuss with central bank experts on various topics in the financial-banking field.

To promote financial education in the most remote corners of the country, the BNM and Expert-Grup have trained several pupils and students, who will conduct online lessons for their peers in their hometowns. Candidates for the title of ambassador of financial education were selected in a public competition held last year.

The National Bank of Moldova joins the Global Money Week event every year, in which the public from almost 175 countries expresses their desire to learn to navigate today's financial world, which is developing quickly and playing an increasingly important role in daily life.
