Chisinau, 22 March /MOLDPRES/ - An MP of the Shor Party’s parliamentary faction, Petru Jardan, has remained without parliamentary immunity. Sixty eight lawmakers today voted for the approval of the demand by the Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo on the lift of the immunity for Jardan’s prosecution and arresting.

According to the Prosecutor General, MP Petru Jardan is suspected of ‘’having committed abuse of office’’ in particularly large amounts, in the interest of an organized criminal group and to the detriment of the interests of the Chisinau International Airport state enterprise, which was on the period of granting. Thus, according to Stoianoglo, through its actions, the MP would have caused damage worth several million of Moldovan lei to the state enterprise.

Petru Jardan said he was not guilty noting that he had fulfilled his office duties. ‘’I consider that I properly managed and administered the enterprise. The competent bodies must say this. I do not want to give any assessment to this situation. I do not hide behind this immunity. To my mind, this is a predictable decision, taking into account the context. I apologize for making my family go through this,’’ Jardan said in the parliament’s plenum.

Petru Jardan was elected MP following the February 2019 parliamentary polls.
