Lyceum from north Moldova city to undergo energy optimization with EU's support

Chisinau, 25 March /MOLDPRES/ - The works of enhancing the energy efficiency are in full swing at the Dimitrie Cantemir theoretical lyceum from the Balti municipality. The works are carried out within a project implemented by the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord) and is financed by the European Union. They are to be finished till late 2021.

ADR specialists in monitoring projects on 24 March went on the spot, to verify how the works are carried out. ‘’On the construction site, specialists discussed technical aspects for which solutions are to be identified. Representatives of the constructions department of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) are also expected to pay a technical visit to the construction site and are to provide solutions as to the building of the roof,’’ sources of ADR Nord said.

As a result of the project’s implementation, the normed annual consumption of energy at the education institution will decrease, according to estimations, by 547 MWh and the annual emissions of Co2 – by 125 tons. Following energy efficiency measures, about 900 pupils and 80 teachers and auxiliary staff will benefit from improved conditions for education and a comfortable environment for education.

The works at the Balti-based lyceum started in last January and are to be finished till the end of this year. The overall cost of the construction works within the project stand at 19.27 million lei, of which 132,680 lei represents the Balti city hall’s contribution.

The investment measure, Enhancing the energy efficiency of the Dimitrie Cantemir Theoretical Lyceum from the Balti municipality, carried out by ADR Nord, is financed by the European Union, in cooperation with the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova. The investment is implemented by GIZ Moldova, in partnership with the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry and financially backed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
