Moldovan speaker convenes working meeting with cabinet members

Chisinau, 30 March /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Zinaida Greceanii convened a working meeting on Monday with participation of members of acting government, led by acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, as well as advisers to the speaker, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The pandemic condition was assessed, which continues to record new anti-records in the number of infections and deaths daily. It was emphasized that in this alarming situation immediate cardinal measures are required.

Greceanii noted that Parliament is ready to support any initiative of the government and the National Commission for Public Health (CNESP) to overcome the difficult situation and provide additional powers in this regard.

Officials discussed details of the urgent purchase of vaccines needed for mass vaccination of all categories of citizens. To facilitate the process, parliament has amended several laws.

In the same context, the gratitude of Moldovan partners for the help was expressed. It was announced that the authorities are continuing very serious efforts to obtain new donations of safe and effective vaccines.

Also, the officials considered the socio-economic situation of the business environment in terms of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The importance of maintaining restrictions appropriate to current realities was reiterated, as they are strictly necessary to counteract the spread of coronavirus.

At the same time, the cabinet members informed about the concrete measures that are being taken to ensure the food security of the country.

In conclusion, Greceanii emphasized that in the current context, all the efforts of the state authorities must be focused on protecting the life and health of citizens, as a matter of absolute priority.
