ANRE announces results of electricity purchase tenders for 2021

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/- The Board of Directors of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) today considered and approved electricity purchase contracts for Moldelectrica company, RED-NORD, FEE-North, Premier Energy and Premier Energy Distribution stock company.

The electricity purchase contracts were awarded as a result of conduct by electricity market operators of new tender procedures, approved by ANRE, meant to guarantee that the electricity is procured using competitive market principles and mechanisms.

The competition was held between five pre-qualified suppliers from the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

In the first stage, due to the lack of at least three bids from pre-qualified companies at the auction, on 16 March 2021, all electricity market operators canceled the tenders, announcing their repeated conduct.

In the repeated auctions held on 22 March the market operators found that there were at least two bids from different participants and in accordance with the pre-established procedure initiated the final price negotiation.

According to ANRE, the domestic market size, lack of market interconnections with EU countries (ENSO-E) and limited capacity of the offers for energy delivery on the internal market determined the low number of pre-qualified companies in the tender procedures.

Given the results of the tenders of the internal market operators on purchase of electricity for 2021, the tariff methodology in the field, the macroeconomic indicators that were the basis for electricity tariffs, ANRE finds no legal prerequisites for review/ increase in electricity tariffs for end consumers during this year, a press release of ANRE reads.
