Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - The National Ethnography and Natural History Museum (MNEIN) urges citizens to donate 1 March trinkets (Martisors) to supply the collections of the MNEIN heritage.

The symbol of the Martisor is a binder connecting with white and red threads communities of people from the south-eastern Europe: Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova. At the same time, the cultural practices related to the 1 March day were included on UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Humanity on 6 December 2017.

The National Ethnography and Natural History Museum has an important role in the promotion of the techniques of manufacturing Martisors, through museum curators and popular artisans, within didactic activities, creation workshops and exhibitions.
