As many as 1,871 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Moldova in last 24 hours

Chisinau, 31 March /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 6,841 samples have been processed in Moldova in the last 24 hours and 1,871 cases of infection with the new-type coronavirus were confirmed. As many as 230,240 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Moldova so far.    

„Most cases of infection are registered in the Chisinau city, which is leader in terms of morbidity, the Transnistrian region, Balti municipality, the districts of Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi, Briceni, Cahul, Edinet, Causeni. We have a calmer situation in the districts Leova and Soldanesti. At the same time, it is worrying that the problem of infection re-becomes topical in some settlements, which settled the problem, at a certain time, such as the districts of Stefan Voda, Anenii Noi,’’ the state secretary at the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), Tatiana Zatic, said at a news conference to unveil updated information on the epidemiological situation as to the COVID-19 infection.        

The official highlighted ‘’the burden on the medical system which faces big difficulties,’’ as well as the tragic effects of the pandemic. Zatic called on the residents to responsibility, prudence and care, which are necessary to ease the mission of the physicians and save lives.   

According to data by the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MSMPS), 46 out of all cases are medical employees: physicians - 14, medical assistants –17 and auxiliary staff -15.

Presently, 331 people are in extremely serious condition and 71 people are connected to mechanic breathing apparatus. As many as 1,612 people are in serious condition and 2,015 people are in medium seriousness condition. As many as 4,167 patients are hospitalized.   

At the same time, MSMPS informs about the registration of another 45 deaths triggered by COVID-19 and 4,960 people have died of coronavirus in all.
