Stage manager, teacher of Moldova marks 80th birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 6 April /MOLDPRES/ - Stage manager, teacher, coordinator of the theatres of amateurs from Moldova, Master in Art Iustin Scarlat turned 80 today.   

Iustin Scarlat was born in the Cetireni village, central Ungheni district, on 6 April 1941. After the finishing of the secondary schools from his native village, Scarlat was appointed director of the community centre from the Cetireni. He continued studying at the Pedagogical School from Calarasi and at the Gavriil Muzicescu State Institute of Arts, specialty of head of the artistic band.   

In 1968, Iustin Scarlat was employed as stage manager, head of the theatre sector of the Republican House of People’s Creation of Moldova’s Culture Ministry. Concomitantly, he held the position of stage manager of the Contemporanul (Contemporary) Theatre. In 1975, he was appointed inspector of the arts directorate of the Culture Ministry.  In 1977, Scarlat was transferred to the Gavriil Muzicescu State Institute of Arts as dean of the Theatre Faculty.  

Subsequently, he held several offices, of dean, pro-rector, head of the section of distance education and continuous training of the Chisinau-based Music, Theatre and Fine Arts Academy. In 1999-2010, Scarlat coordinated the work of the theatres of amateurs from Moldova at the National Centre of People’s Art. He also worked as university professor at the department of stage management, theatre, show and public manifestations (2015).   

In 2001, Iustin Scarlat was awarded the honorific title of master in art, Merited Man, laureate of the Union Festival of the Arts of Amateur, Eminent of Public Education.
