General Prosecutor's Office presents statistic of cases initiated after 7 April 2009 events

Chisinau, 7 April /MOLDPRES/- The General Prosecutor's Office presented today the statistics of the cases initiated after the events of 7 April 2009.

12 years ago, people who claimed to have suffered as a result of the actions of the police officers submitted 77 complaints and the prosecutors took notice in another 31 cases, 108 criminal cases were initiated.

In 71 cases, criminal cases were initiated; 28 cases on 47 police officers were completed and sent to court; in all other cases, the prosecution has either been terminated for lack of constitutive elements of the offenses.

At the end of last year, there was a criminal case pending before the courts on two persons (returned for retrial), court of appeal - no case pending.

In the court of appeal, there is currently only one criminal case on abuse of power of former head of the municipal police, the next hearing on this case being scheduled for 13 April 2021.
