Issues in insurance sector discussed at Supreme Security Council meeting

Chisinau, 14 April /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu chaired a meeting of the Supreme Security Council (CSS) on 13 April. The event focused on urgent issues affecting our citizens, as well as the country's economic security, the presidential press service has reported.

"We talked for several hours about issues in the insurance sector. Schemes planned by certain interest groups, controlled by Plahotniuc, Shor and Platon, which have been running for several years, endanger citizens' money, create major risks for the insurance sector and for the state budget. Some of these schemes were possible because of bad decisions of regulatory institutions, others - because of dubious decisions of judges. In the absence of prompt action by law enforcement in the case of acts of corruption and inaction of the parliament to the CNPF council members, the raider attacks continue", she said.

 CSS came up with several recommendations to state institutions. In particular, the CSS requested the Prosecutor General's Office to investigate:

- cases of use of insurance companies and their bank accounts in lending activities and privatization processes of state assets connected to interest groups and involved in other frauds investigated;

- CNPF decisions that led to the inefficient management of the assets of some insurance companies;

- suspicious transactions of MOLDASIG company throughout the period, including 2008-2014.

The export of wheat was also discussed at the meeting. Maia Sandu called for the extension of the restriction on the export of wheat from the state reserve in order not to admit the increase in prices for bakery products for the categories of low-income citizens.
