Moldovan MPs might make amendments to Contravention Code, Criminal Code

Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ - The Contravention Code and the Criminal Code are to be amended. The juridical commission for rules and immunities approved a draft law to this effect today.  

Under the document, the Contravention Code will be amended as follows: examination of cases which reached court without the involved side. Also, the appeal court, while considering cases in the lack of sides, the latter’s rights are observed; thus, through considering the cases by way of appeal, the expenses borne as to the citing those regarded in the trial, the holding of the court session are reduced to the minimum.  

As for the completion of the Criminal Code, the inclusion of a new article comes next and namely the reduction by one third of the limits of punishment envisaged by the law in the case of the punishment with imprisonment, with remunerated labour for the benefit of the community of the defendant who recognized the committing of the deeds contained in the accusation and demanded for the trial to be made based on the evidence managed in the criminal prosecution phase. The draft also proposes reduction by one fourth of the limits of punishment provided for by the law in the case of punishment with fine. And if the punishment seen by the law is the life sentence, a punishment with 30 years of imprisonment is enforced.    

The document is to be submitted to parliament for consideration.
