Chisinau, 22 April /MOLDPRES/- Parliament ruled on increasing the monthly benefit for care, accompaniment and supervision of people with severe disabilities among participants in the liquidation of the accident at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A draft law in this regard was set up by MPs of PSRM Faction and approved at today's plenary session in two readings.
The draft provides for the increase of the allowance from 500 lei to 80% of the amount of the minimum pension for the age limit, set annually by the government.
Currently, under the Law on State Social Allowances for some categories of citizens, the amount of the allowance is 80% of the minimum pension for persons caring for, accompanying and supervising at home a child with a severe disability up to 18 years of age; people with severe childhood disabilities; persons with severe blind disabilities.
Thus, the legislation in force does not ensure a uniform approach to social protection measures for people with severe disabilities, who have the same support needs from a third party, the draft authors said.
