Free movement between two banks of Dniester to be ensured on period of Easter Holidays

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - The free movement of people and transport means to and from the settlements placed on the left bank of Dniester and Bender municipality will be ensured on the period 30 April – 10 May, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.    

This fact was confirmed as a result of a correspondence recently carried out at the level of representatives of the political representatives in the process of negotiation on the Transnistrian settlement.

In its call to Tiraspol, Chisinau reiterated the proposal to subsequently prolong this approach on the following period as well, taking into account the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommendations and the evolution of the population’s immunization process.

It was reiterated that the re-launch of the free movement between the two banks of Dniester is in the citizens’ interest and would get a positive perception in the society.

Thus, in the answer received from Tiraspol, the Chisinau authorities were informed that, on 30 April – 10 May 2021, the passing through the so-called Transnistrian control points would be allowed without imposing restrictions earlier maintained and in the lack of the coordinations made with the local ‘’crisis cells.’’ 

Also, the answer received from Tiraspol reads that, if tendencies of decrease in the number of infections with COVID-19 are recorded, decision-makers will consider possibility to return to the mechanism of citizens’ movement, applied before the establishment of the quarantine regime.

The Reintegration Policies Bureau will additionally inform about the subsequent developments in this respect.
