Moldova marks State Flag Day

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- Today, the Republic of Moldova marks the State Flag Day. The tricolor was officially designated the state flag on 27 April 1990 by MPs of the first Parliament, being hoisted on the same day on the building of the legislative forum.

According to the head of the Public Association Parliament 90, Pintilie Pârvan, 31 years ago, on 27 April the first legislative acts were adopted, the State Flag, and also on this day, Mircea Snegur was elected president of the Supreme Soviet and the transition to the European time was approved.

University professor Ion Buga, MP of the first Parliament said that the Bible, the Christian Church and the Romanian space largely determined the appropriate choice by Romanians of the three holy colors (red, yellow and blue), as colors of national flag - Romanian Tricolor. 

State Flag Day was set up by Chisinau Parliament on 23 April 2010. In 2012, on the occasion of the State Flag Day of the Republic of Moldova, marked for the third time, on the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, on a mast of 30 meters high, a huge flag, measuring 7 × 3.5 meters, was hoisted in a solemn ceremony.

The State flag of the Republic of Moldova is a major official symbol of the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova. The state flag represents a rectangular canvas, with the ratio between the height and length of the canvas of 1: 2, equal vertical tripartite, in blue, yellow and red, and having in the middle of the yellow field the image of the State Coat of Arms of 1/5 of the length of the flag.
