Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/- The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) received the second batch of 7,600 laptops out of a total of ten thousand, purchased under the Education Reform in Moldova Project, funded by the World Bank.

Like the first 2,400 technical units, they will be sent to the district / municipal councils, which will distribute the laptops to the educational institutions that reported such needs among pupils.

“The laptops in the first batch have already reached Chisinau, Orhei, Ungheni and Causeni. The distribution of the second lot started on 23 April and will cover the needs of the other 31 districts / municipalities in the country ", MECC said.

According to the latest data, collected by the Ministry of Education through the Information Management System in Education (SIME), 9,484 pupils in grades V-XII need a computer to connect to online lessons. Therefore, this acquisition will fully cover the needs of high school pupils to have access to the remote education.

The Education Reform in Moldova project is a specific investment loan, offered by the World Bank, implemented in April 2013 - April 2022, which supports the Moldovan government by financing activities that will strengthen the quality of education and lead to a more efficient education sector.
