Center of excellence in winemaking in Stăuceni upgraded with EU support

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/- A continuous training section was inaugurated yesterday at the Center of Excellence in Viticulture and Winemaking in Stăuceni. The new subdivision was created with the financial support provided by the European Union, within the project Development of rural areas in Moldova - DevRAM", Part I, and will offer young people and employees, including employers and producers, a wide range of training opportunities on innovative approaches.
The training section will focus on the professional development needs of future specialists, in order to ensure their better integration into the labor market. The educational offer will initially include two training programs: Sommelier and Wine Tourism.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Mihail Machidon, present at the event, stressed the importance of agricultural education for the economy of the Republic of Moldova and the attraction of young people in the sector. "The modernization of national agriculture, in order to become internationally competitive, is possible only by strengthening the collaboration between educational institutions, research institutions and economic agents," said Machidon.
In the same context, Stella Avallone, Ambassador of Austria to Moldova said that our countries are closely linked through a wide range of activities in economy, security, education and culture, or Austrian Development Cooperation has as directions of intervention vocational and inclusive education, environmental protection, access to water resources and adaptation to climate change, as well as governance, the rule of law and peacebuilding. In the same context, the diplomat said that during 1997-2019, Austria provided our country with development assistance worth about 58 million euros.
The European Union project Development of rural areas in the Republic of Moldova, Part I. Increasing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector by integrating it into domestic and global value chains, especially the soybean sector is implemented by the Austrian Development Cooperation, in partnership with the PRO DIDACTICA center and the International Association Donau Soja (Austria).
