Moldovan electoral body's members start preparations for snap elections due on 11 July

Chisinau, 29 April /MOLDPRES/ - The members of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today had a meeting with President Maia Sandu. The event took place in the context of the preparations for the snap parliamentary elections, scheduled for 11 July 2021.    

According to the CEC’s press service, the discussions were focused on the activities due to be carried out by the electoral authority, in order to ensure a free and fair electoral process, with the observance of the present legal framework.   

In this respect, the Commission members informed that they would estimate the budget for the ballot, with the spending sheet submitted to Moldova’s government, to identify the financial resources needed.

Till the official starting of the electoral period, the Commission will ensure the working out and approval of the calendar plan for carrying out the actions of organization and holding the snap parliamentary elections.     

On 28 April, President Maia Sandu signed the decree on the parliament’s dissolution and announced the date of the snap parliamentary polls for 11 July 2021.
