Acting PM attends meeting of EAEU countries heads

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/- Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi participated today in online meeting of the heads of government of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Moldova has observer status, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

In his speech, Ciocoi stressed Moldova's interest to use observer status to boost mutually beneficial trade and economic relations with EAEU member states. The interest is also dictated by the fact that the markets of the EAEU countries are already traditional for many Moldovan producers and exporters.

"Given that for the second year in a row humanity is suffering from a disastrous health crisis, cooperation, mutual support and solidarity are not only important, but also necessary in the interaction between our nations. Therefore, Moldova's participation as an observer in the EAEU comes to facilitate the increase of economic relations for the implementation of a number of joint infrastructure projects, growth of mutual trade, attract investment in agriculture and digitize the economy, " he said.

Ciocoi said that despite all challenges created by the pandemic, the government is developing optimal measures to support the domestic economy and overcome the crisis, directing its efforts towards the implementation of infrastructure, transport and logistics projects and creation of new jobs.

In this context, he noted that last year in the Republic of Moldova, a program was approved on creation of 18 multifunctional industrial platforms, which would allow attracting foreign investors in our country. The Prime Minister said that currently, in our country 44 projects are being implemented for creation and development of industrial platforms and throughout the operation of existing industrial parks, the investments amounted to almost 570 million dollars and over 21,000 jobs were set up.
