Moldovan fine artist says opens painting exhibitiuon in Telenesti

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - Fine artist, people’s Artist Leonid Popescu has recently opened a personal painting and graphic exhibition at the headquarters of the Telenesti district council.   

Contacted by MOLDPRES, Leonid Popescu said that the exhibition had been opened at a request by the district culture department, Pavel Casian, and it comprises 34 painting and graphic works. ‘’I thank for the invitation to return to my native place both to Pavel Casian and the Telenesti district head, Mariana Ombun, the director of the Nicolae Moisei fine arts school from the settlement, Svetlana Caprian, as well as other personalities of my native district. The exhibition will be later on inaugurated at the Telenesti district library and will be permanent,’’ the painter said.   

Leonid Popescu was born in the Saratenii Vechi village, Telenesti district, on 22 March 1953. He finished the Chisinau-based Alexandru Plamadeala Fine Arts College and the Faculty of Design and Industrial Graphic of the Arts and Design Institute from Kharkiv, Ukraine. He is member of the Fine Artists’ Union and the Writers’ Union of Moldova. He had exhibitions in Moldova and abroad. In 2001, Popescu was awarded the Master in Arts honorific title, the Order of Honour in 2013 and the People’s Artist honorific title in 2016. Leonid Popescu has works in public and private collections in Moldova and abroad.
