Moldovan president, Norwegian PM discuss reforms' agenda after snap parliamentary elections

Chisinau, 30 April /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today afternoon discussed with Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg. The head of state thanked for the constant support provided to Moldova, including for the assistance meant for overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, the presidential press service has reported.  

The officials exchanged opinions on the pandemic situation, the political crisis in Moldova and the plans of reform following the snap parliamentary elections.

The sides tackled also the subject on the possibility of increasing the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries, in the context of the negotiations of the free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member countries.  

„We want a consolidation of the bilateral cooperation between our countries, as well as within international organizations,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the discussions with Norwegian PM Erna Solberg.   

Norway is one of basic financers of the Council of Europe’s programmes for Moldova, as well as a generous donor at the bilateral level. Norway backs targeted interventions for the decentralization reform, combating corruption, energy efficiency in communities and other important institutional transformations in Moldova.
