Moldovan parliament speaker meets high-ranking officials of Belarusian National Assembly in Minsk

Chisinau, 5 May /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, on an official visit to Minsk at the head of a Moldova’s delegation, today had a meeting with Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly (parliament) of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the Chamber of Representatives of this country’s parliament, Vladimir Andreychenko, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.  

Attending the meeting were MPs from Moldova, delegation members and lawmakers from Belarus.   

The participants in the meeting exchanged opinions on the cooperation relations between Moldova and Belarus in various sectors.

The sides found out the existence of very good relations between the two countries’ parliaments, including at the level of the parliamentary commissions and friendship groups, as well as on the line of the inter-parliamentary organizations, among which the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).     

Vladimir Andreychenko and Natalia Kochanova welcomed the presence of Moldova’s speaker in Minsk. He expressed confidence that the visit by the Moldovan delegation to Belarus would boost the Moldovan-Belarusian interaction, based on common rich traditions and on the mutual interest to ensure the development of the countries and the flourishing of the two peoples.

According to the officials, in these approaches, Moldova and Belarus must foster their interaction.

The high-ranking officials were unanimous in the interest as to the states’ development based on the reciprocal respect and on the fundamental principles and non-interference with the domestic affairs of other countries.  

In continuation, the sides tackled the importance of the active involvement of young people and women in political processes in the two countries.      

Also, the officials stressed the importance to boost the economic and investment cooperation, including through the extension of the joint companies and mutual support in the sale of goods on the EU and CIS markets.  

In particular, the sides referred to the carrying out of projects on the assembling of trolley buses in Chisinau, technology of small dimensions on the territory of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit and possibilities of implementing projects on assembling of Belarusian buses and lifts in Moldova.      

As for the cooperation in the social field, Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii and the high Belarusian officials discussed the process of combating the pandemic. In this respect, the speaker submitted a request to the Belarusian authorities to consider a possibility to provide a consignment of vaccines to Moldova, as humanitarian assistance. At the same time, she stressed Moldova’s willingness to buy a quantity of anti-COVID vaccine. The Moldovan delegation was informed that Belarus was ready to soon launch its own production of vaccines.   

While approaching aspects of the cooperation in the education sector, the sides showed interest in speeding up the process of reciprocal recognition of the education diplomas, driver’s licences and apostilles of official documents.    

The officials also tackled the situation of the Moldovans in Belarus and of the Belarusian Diaspora in Moldova. In this respect, there is firm mutual determination and a friendly bilateral legal framework for the social protection of the Moldovan fellow countrymen in Belarus and vice versa.    

Zinaida Greceanii expressed opportunity of the construction of Moldova’s Embassy in Minsk, which would ensure a high degree of protection of the Moldovan citizens in Belarus and would help fully boost the Moldovan-Belarusian interactions.   

In another context, the interlocutors exchanged opinions on the preparations for the events dedicated to the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War – an event which is part of the common historical heritage of the two countries.    

The participants in the meeting shared the opinion according to which the states’ authorities must follow the road built by the two peoples centuries ago.  

On the period 5-7 May, a Moldovan parliament’s delegation pays an official visit to the National Assembly of Belarus. The delegation is made up of MPs Vasile Bolea and Radu Mudreac, the parliament’s secretary general, Adrian Albu and acting Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Minister Ion Perju.
