Consolidation of bilateral relations between Moldova and United Kingdom discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/ - The strengthening of the bilateral relations between Moldova and the United Kingdom today was discussed at a meeting between President Maia Sandu and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas of the UK Wendy Morton. In the end of the meeting, Maia Sandu informed that the 458,000 pounds, confiscated from Luca Filat, would be returned to Moldova and would be redirected to people with severe disabilities.
The head of state also said that, at the meeting, the sides had agreed on the way of the return of the about 11.5 million lei, confiscated from the son of Vlad Filat, which will be used for backing people with severe disabilities. ‘’We ruled that the financial resources confiscated be redirected to the National Social Assistance Agency of Moldova, for financing the social service of personal assistant for the people with severe disabilities,’’ Sandu said.
She added that he British authorities would support a project on consultancy in the fight with corruption in Moldova.
For her part, Wendy Morton said that the United Kingdom was quite interested in the political situation in Moldova and would back the authorities in fighting corruption.
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas of the UK Wendy Morton is on a two-day official visit to Chisinau.
