Moldova-Lithuania cooperation relations discussed in Chisinau

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/- Cooperation relations between Moldova and Lithuania were discussed today in Chisinau at a meeting between Maia Sandu and Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nauseda.

"I spoke about the internal situation in Moldova, latest political developments, preparation for snap parliamentary elections. We discussed the desire of the Moldovan citizens to build a prosperous future at home, without injustice and without corruption. We reviewed the country's reform agenda and the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova ", said Sandu.

She said Lithuania has always been a supporter of the democratic reform agenda in our country. Proof are the 137 projects and technical assistance programs in various fields, financed from the taxes of Lithuanian citizens and carried out in the Republic of Moldova, in the last 12 years.

“We continue to count on Lithuania's support for the Association Agenda of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union and for strengthening cooperation within the Eastern Partnership. In this regard, I reconfirm the openness of the Republic of Moldova to have a deeper relationship with the European Union. We are also ready to sign the Agreement on conversion and mutual recognition of driving permits for citizens of our countries, an agreement negotiated and agreed at the government level. At the same time, we want to continue collaborating in the field of security and defense, especially the defense of hybrid risks and the fight against misinformation, where the experience of Lithuania can be very useful to us. Lithuania's experience of democratic and economic transformation remains an eloquent example of good practice for our country, "Sandu said.

Gitanas Nauseda opted for deepening the country's relations with Moldova, including economic ones.

Nauseda pays an official visit to Moldova on 13-14 May at the invitation of Maia Sandu. This is the first visit of a Lithuanian head of state to the Republic of Moldova in the last six years.

The two officials will plant a tree at the Botanica Garden in Chisinau.
