Heavy rain caused damage to many households in northern Moldova

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/- Heavy rain caused damage to several households in the north of the country. Employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations intervened to pump water in Hincăuți locality, Edineț district, and in two localities from Floresti.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, following heavy rainfall, the help of firemen was needed in Hincăuți, Edineț district. The rescuers had the mission to pump the water that leaked into a household and risk flooding the house. Another case in which the involvement of firefighters was necessary took place in Băhrinești, Floresti district, after heavy rainfall flooded part of the basement of the gymnasium.

The intervention of the Inspectorate's employees was also requested in Prajila locality, Floresti district, after the rain entered the basement of a household. The situation is still monitored by the employees of the territorial subdivisions.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, on 19 May rain and strong wind gusting up to 15-20 m/s are forecast.
