Moldovan president has meetings with officials from Economy, Foreign Affairs Ministries of Germany

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, on the second day of her official visit to Berlin, had meetings with State Secretary at the Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the presidential press service has reported.  

„I had a very discussion with Maria Flachsbarth, State Secretary at BMZ, an institution which supports more development programmes carried out in Moldova. I thanked Mrs. State Secretary for the assistance provided to maintain our country on the list of recipients of German assistance. We are interested in continuing our cooperation through assistance projects for developing communities and local infrastructure and for economic growth of regions,’’ the head of state said.     

At the meeting, the sides discussed the priority sectors for Moldova, which need support, among which the development of the vocational education and creation of jobs for young people and enhancing the economy’s competitiveness through backing the digital transformation.

„I today discussed with State Secretary at the Federal Foreign Affairs Ministry of Germany Niels Annen. I reconfirmed Moldova’s attachment to a deep change and our wish to take over a more active role on the international stage through the re-launch of the relations with the neighbour countries and contribution to the region’s stability on the whole,’’ President Maia Sandu said.    

The head of state thanked Niels Annen for the solid support of his country in the bilateral, as well as multilateral context, in Berlin and Brussels, and for Germany’s commitment to strengthen the security and observance of the human rights in our region. ‘’I reconfirmed our intention to continue and consolidate the cooperation on the Eastern Partnership’s platform,’’ Maia Sandu stressed.
