Moldova become sixth commercial partner for Romania

Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova has become the sixth non-EU commercial partner and the 34th investment one for Romania, with a number of 6,253 firms with mixed capital and a subscribed capital of 57 million dollars.

At a business conference, Moldova – destination for Romanian investments, Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania Claudiu Nasui said that ‘’Romania is the first commercial and investment partner for Moldova according to the number of firms with mixed capital – 1,653 – and the volume of subscribed capital,. i.e. about 245 million dollars. Moldova has become for Romania the sixth non-EU trade partner and the 34th investment one, with a number of 6,253 firms with mixed capital and subscribed capital of 57 million dollars. There are relations, they are solid; we can consolidate them even more. The bilateral commerce already started recovering the 12-per cent loss registered in 2020, which was a pandemic year,’’ the Romanian official said.

According to Claudiu Nasui, in the first quarter of this year, the commercial exchanges between the two countries grew by 8.4 per cent.

At the same time, the Romanian official voiced hope that Moldova would advance on the way of the democratic reforms and ‘’will continue the road to the European Union.’’
