Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today hosted a meeting with representatives of the mediators and observers in the Transnistrian settlement, the so-called 3+2 format, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The delegation is on a working visit to Moldova and is led by Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement Process on behalf of Sweden Thomas Mayr-Harting. The sides assessed the present stage of the negotiations and possibilities to boost the works as to the Transnistrian problem settlement, based on the principle of observance of Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

„Moldova’s national goal is to find long-term political solutions to settle the Transnistrian conflict. There are no confrontations between the Moldovan citizens from both banks of Dniester. The Chisinau government makes no difference between its citizens, no matter the bank of Dniester where they live,’’ Aureliu Ciocoi said. He thanked for the support provided to Moldova through the observers in the Transnistria-related subjects and spoke out for a constructive dialogue.

The delegation’s representatives appreciated the positive dynamic following the varied assistance of the government in combating the pandemic in Moldova’s Transnistrian region. ‘’It is our obligation to provide every needed support to the residents from Moldova’s Transnistrian region, ensured including through the free of charge supply of medical articles and anti-Covid vaccines from stocks received by Moldova,’’ the acting PM specified.

The officials set the priorities, in order to prepare the actions necessary, which will be set forth and considered at the Permanent Conference for Political Issues in the Transnistrian Settlement Process (5+2 format of negotiations), which is to convene in Stockholm in next autumn.

In the afternoon, the delegation members pay a working visit to Tiraspol.
