Plan's implementation to help more easily overcome crisis period - Moldovan president says

Chisinau, 4 June /MOLDPRES/- This morning, President Maia Sandu talked to the European Commission's Mission, led by Katarína Mathernová, Deputy Director-General for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations. European officials have arrived in Chisinau to present details on economic recovery plan offered to Moldova following talks in Brussels in January, the presidential press service has reported.

"We have addressed several issues on our agenda with the European Union - the commitment to reform justice and fight against corruption, and efforts we need to make for economic recovery and improving business environment. We talked about the management of the pandemic and in this context, I thanked the European Union for the rapid support provided to the Republic of Moldova to deal with the health crisis, and later - for the launch of the vaccination campaign. Thanks to this support, we can save human lives ", said Maia Sandu.

The economic recovery plan worth up to 600 million euros is the result of a major effort made in recent months by the European Commission, in dialogue with President Maia Sandu and the presidential team, as well as representatives of other authorities in Chisinau. "The implementation of the Plan will allow us to overcome more easily the crisis period we are in, and accessing the funds  depends on the commitment and capacity of the Moldovan authorities to profoundly reform the judiciary, fight corruption and make necessary changes in the system of government," the head of state said.
