Chisinau, 5 June /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, on the World Environment Day, marked today, went to Vadul lui Voda, on the bank of Dniester, for several hours, to collect in the nearby wood the waste left by people who had crossed the area or organized picnics. The head of state was accompanied by more employees of the Moldovan Presidency, volunteers of the Hai Moldova (Come on, Moldova) community and local residents.

According to the presidential press service, more bags with waste were collected, including plastic bottles, containers, packaging, cigarette boxes and other waste. ‘’Unfortunately, in our country, the woods, river banks or lakesides, where people gather to enjoy themselves together, are full of waste. And it is wrong for us to believe that the preserving of cleanliness is exclusively the authorities’ responsibility – the clean environment is the people’s task too,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

The head of state stressed that the things can be changed by joint efforts, as well as individually. ‘’Let us collect the waste, when we go to picnic. Let us separate and recycle the waste at home and go to shops with ecologically safe bags. And periodically, we can gather with friends and collect the waste left by other people, just as we did it today. This is the sure way for us to enjoy a clean and sound planet for more generations ahead,’’ Maia Sandu added.
