Moldovan State Hydrometeorological Service forecasts storms, hail

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Meteorologists have issued a new Yellow Code warning of atmospheric instability.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service thunderstorm rains are expected in Moldova today in the time interval 13:00-21:00, heavy rains in some regions, accompanied by strong wind with a speed of 15-18 metres/second and hail.

The Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations informed that the heavy precipitation with hail, recorded in Moldova in the last days, had hit agricultural crops in more settlements of Moldova.

Thus, the rains destroyed 40 hectares of apple orchards in the settlements Arionesti and Taul, northern Donduseni district and the precipitation affected 18 hectares of plum orchards and 40 hectares of apple orchards in Regina Maria village, northern Soroca district.

Damages were registered also in the Drochia village, where the bad weather destroyed 28 hectares of orchards; in Heciul Nou village, central Sangerei district, 50 hectares of sunflower were hit. Torrential rains and hail affected 20 hectares of wheat in the Pervomaisc settlement, eastern Causeni district.
