Collection of journalism works by departed Moldovan writer launched at National Library

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - The National Library of Moldova (BNRM), in cooperation with the Tipo Moldova (Iasi) publishing house and Literatura si Arta (Literature and Art) weekly newspaper, today launched the collection of journalism works by departed writer Nicolae Dabija titled, Sunt un om fericit (I am a Happy Man).  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, BNRM director Elena Pintilei said that those 27 volumes brought together more than 5,000 national education articles, leading articles from the Literatura şi Arta weekly, written during 30 years by writer, publicist Nicolae Dabija. 

According to Pintilei, the journalism volumes appeared in the Collection Biblioteca Marii Uniri” (Great Union Library) and are prefaced by a well-known Romanian historian Ioan Scurtu. The books are accompanied by photos, which illustrate the articles, essays, studies, from which people can established what happened on the period of separation from the Soviet Union, which were the ideals of the ‘’independence generation.’’ The project’s author, editor from Iasi Aurel Ștefanachi said that the volumes had been edited during two months for libraries from Romania and Moldova. Ștefanachi noted that the journalism works by Nicolae Dabija would help the future historians ‘’to objectively register the events of recent history, in which the departed writer was not only eye witness, but also active participant.’’  

Nicolae Dabija was born in the Codreni village, southern Cimislia district, on 15 July in 1948. In 1972, he graduated from the Philology Faculty of the Moldovan State University. He debuted with the first book of poems titled, The Third Eye, in 1975.

Nicolae Dabija was awarded the Order of the Republic, Order Star of Romanian in Rank of Commander, Order Cultural Merit in rank of Grand Officer, Grand Prize of the International Poetry Festival from Trieste, Giacommo Leopardi Prize of the World Poetry Centre from Recanati, Umberto Mastroiani International Poetry Prize, the Grand Prize Dulce Maria Loynaz of the International Poetry Festival from Havana, etc.

He died on 12 March 2021.
