Moldovan acting PM says parliamentary elections must be held in absolute accordance with European standards

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi today had a meeting with representatives of the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO). Head of the Mission Zlatko Vujovic introduced his team and presented its role in Moldova, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The ENEMO mandate is to monitor the snap parliamentary elections due on 11 July and ensure integrity and transparency within this process. On this purpose, the Mission will delegate a team made up of seven basic experts and ten long-term observers.
The international observers informed about the experience within the five electoral processes carried out in Moldova in the last five years. They highlighted the technical problems on which they had come across, the high degree of mass media polarization and the management of the pre- and post-electoral activities.
The acting PM welcomed the involvement of representatives of the international mission in the monitoring of the snap parliamentary polls due this summer. Aureliu Ciocoi stressed the need that this democratic exercise be held fairly, inclusively, transparently and in absolute accordance with the European standards.
The European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations is a non-governmental international organization. It was set up through the association of 21 national monitoring organizations from 17 countries of the Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia, of which two European Union member states.
