Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - The lowest immunization level is recorded in the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, and this even if there are enough vaccine doses and from various producers, the regional media as reported.

According to the head of the epidemiology section at the public health centre from Comrat, Tatiana Avramova, the distribution of the Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccine doses started in the region on 14 June.

“Sinopharm will be administered for the first and second doses and Pfizer – only for the second one. We also have AstraZeneca, which is an analogue of the Sputnik-V vaccine and has absolutely the same immunization principle,’’ Tatiana Avramova said, quoted by GRT and www.gagauzinfo.md.

Nevertheless, according to Avramova, despite the fact that there are enough doses of anti-COVID-19 vaccine in the Gagauz autonomy, the lowest immunization level is registered in the region. ‘’Or, the virus is still around us and poses danger,’’ the epidemiologist noted.

The vaccination process started in Moldova in last March. A number of 2,500 people were immunized in the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri, which accounts for 4 per cent. According to the Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, at present, 1.03 million vaccine doses have been received in Moldova. The first dose was administered to about 386,000 people and the second dose – to about 153,000 people and about 539,000 anti-Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered in all.
