Moldova's General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations participates in meeting of Admnitrative Committee of SMURD Crossborder Project

Chisinau, 18 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) has participated in the sixth meeting of the Administrative Committee of the SMURD-2 Cross-Border Project. It is carried out based on the European Union’s Joint Operational Programme Romania-Moldova 2014-2020    

According to a press release by IGSU, the sixth meeting of the aforementioned Administrative Committee was held in Iasi, Romania, on 15-16 June. Participating in the event were the IGSU head, Mihail Harabagiu, and representatives of all institutions involved in the carrying out of the project, among which  Interior Ministry’s (MAI) General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations from Romania, Romanian Interior Ministry’s General Inspectorate of Aviation, Health Ministry of Romania, Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the Iasi county, Romania, Health, Labour and Social Protection Ministry of Moldova, Emergency medicine institute of Moldova.    

According to the information unveiled, the participants in the meetings discussed the progress made, problems and risks in the project’s implementation. At the same time, at the meeting on 16 June, the working group members considered the revising of the joint intervention plan and the related procedures, etc.

The SMURD-2 Cross-Border Project is financed by the European Union, with a budget of over 10 million euros and provides for the construction of two SMURD  (Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication) operation points in Ungheni and Cantemir, building of four heliports for SMURD helicopters nearby four hospitals from the cities of Chisinau, Balti and Cahul, purchasing of 14 special vehicles specific for SMURD missions, as well as the construction of two Emergency Reception Unit in Chisinau and Balti. The period of implementation of the aforementioned activities is the end of 2022.
